It is hard to believe we are almost halfway through 2025, and another school year has ended. I want to commend all our graduates from pre-school to college. You have worked hard, and your accomplishments are to be noted. For those who have graduated from one level and are moving to the next level, may you continue to grow in wisdom and knowledge and make a difference for Jesus all along the way. For those who have graduated and are moving on to begin your career: choose wisely, invest your life to produce eternal dividends, and change your world for Christ.
On May 26th, we will observe Memorial Day. I pray that we will remember the true meaning of this day as we honor those who paid the ultimate price and gave the supreme sacrifice for our nation and the great freedom we have.
Beginning in just a few days, churches across our association will kick off their summer activities with Vacation Bible School. Some in our churches may be tired and weary and saying or thinking, “Is this worth all the effort, time, and expense we are putting into it?” Let me encourage you while we may not see an impact immediately, Heaven knows and will accurately record the results of our VBS efforts. Yes, “VBS is worth it,” because it is about Jesus and the eternity of our children hanging in the balance. Consider the following numbers from across our association in 2024: 28 of our churches conducted a VBS, 2,301 children and adults were enrolled, and 20 decisions to accept Christ were made. We praise the Lord for these very important numbers. However, there is no way to record the vital impact of how many times the gospel was shared or the relationships and friendships that were made. Maybe the most important thing we did was to show the love, compassion, concern, and care of Jesus to a child that so desperately needed it. Those simple acts can change the eternal destiny of a child as well as their earthly impact and influence. So, yes, “VBS is worth it!” Please know we are praying for your VBS and don’t hesitate to contact us if we can help you with anything.
